Betty Huff Smith, 82, of Albany, GA, died Thursday, April 20, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00 am at Pine Bluff Baptist Church. Pastor Bruce Smith and Pastor Keith Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery with Pastor Gary Holland officiating.
Mrs. Smith was born on November 4, 1940 in Barnesville, GA to Robert and Mary Huff. Her family moved to Jacksonville, FL where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She met Bruce Smith in Griffin, GA, and they married in 1960.
Mrs. Smith and her family moved to Albany, GA in 1986 and she retired from the Dougherty County School System at the Oaktree Psychoeducational Center. She was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church where both her husband and son served as Pastors. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Summit Sunday School Class and was a volunteer at Venture of Faith Camp which was a ministry of Pine Bluff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Lee Bean and Dorothy Luke.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce Smith of Albany, her children, Janice (Huey) Golden and Keith (Kimberly) Smith all of Albany, GA, her grandchildren, Chris (Nikki) Golden of Jacksonville, FL, Julianna (Emanuel) Gonzalez of Winter Haven, FL, Megan (Dylan) Mimnaugh of Wesley Chapel, FL, Shelby (Aaron) Overcash of Pensacola, FL, great-grandchildren, Carter Golden, Judson Mimnaugh, Natalie Mimnaugh, Camilla Gonzalez, siblings, Maggie Watson of Knoxville, TN, Glenda Akins of Statesboro, GA, Louise (David) Jones of Chattanooga, TN, Jeanette (Jimmy) Williams of Chattanooga, TN, Barbara (Wayne) Henry of Marietta, GA and Bobby Huff of Atlanta, GA.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Pine Bluff Baptist Church before the service.
