Betty Holmes

Betty Holmes, 81, of 614 Creekside Drive, Leesburg, GA, died May 30, 2011. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chuck Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Leesburg Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Nickolas Weekly, Jim Quinn, Richard McDuffie, Stacy Moreland, Michael Bailey and A.B. Stroud.

A native of Louisville, AL, Mrs. Holmes had resided in the Albany area since 1957. She was employed at Flint River Textiles for thirty seven years. She was a member of the Golden Key Club, Georgia Sheriffs Association, Kinchafoonee Baptist Church and the Helping Hands Sunday School Class. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Holmes.

Survivors include a son, Danny Holmes and his wife, Teresa of Leesburg, GA, a daughter, Sharon Stroud and her husband, Randy of Terrell County, GA, a sister, Lucy Bell of Clayton, AL, three grandchildren, Tricia Quinn and her husband, Jim, Terri McDuffie and her husband, Richard, and Nickolas Weekly and his wife, April all of Lee County, GA and four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Daniel, Christopher, Kyler, Chandler, Isabell and Sadie.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
