Betty Elizabeth Dennard

Betty Elizabeth Baggett Dennard passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 27, 2022.

Born on July 15, 1928 at Crawford Long Hospital, Betty is a native of Atlanta. At an early age, she met the love of her life, Raymond Eugene Dennard and they were married 60 years. She was a longtime employee of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home in Decatur, where she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper.

As a young girl, Betty attended Capital Avenue Baptist Church and this is where she and her husband Raymond were baptized. Later in life, she attended Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a faithful member.

Betty was an easy-going soul who loved to laugh, and her laugh was infectious. She told hilarious stories of her childhood, her work, and of memories with her husband and his family. Betty treasured their life on Jackson Lake and always loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Though her last few years on this Earth were stolen by dementia, she was always sweet and thankful to those who cared for her.

She was the daughter of the late Mary Hughes Baggett and Paul Newton Baggett Sr.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Eugene Dennard.

She is survived by her daughters: Gail Carpenter and Sharon (Shay) Bradshaw and husband Billl; Sisters, Ann Dowdy and Louise Hopper and brother, Paul Baggett, Jr.; Grandchildren, Allen Alford (Michelle), Ashley Wells (David), Brian Bradshaw (Kari), Kelley Bradshaw Savoca (Joe), and Emily Bradshaw; Great grandchildren: Cooper, Zach, and Maggie Wells, and Lawson, Beau, and Kate Bradshaw; and many nieces and nephews. Thank you to special caregivers Temeca Miller, Taneka Bishop, and Vera Eady, affectionately known as “Mother Eady”.

Although her Earthly life is over, we know she is healed and reunited with her Lord and her beloved husband. The Angles are rejoicing, for what a Good and Faithful servant she was. She is surely cutting a rug with Raymond, doing the Jitterbug and having a laugh!

Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 2:00PM at Macedonia Baptist Church, 151 Macedonia Church Road, Jackson, Georgia 30233 with Visitation beginning at 1:00PM.
