Betty "The Ice Cream Lady" Cason

Betty Cason “The Ice Cream Lady”, 87, of Lee County, died Thursday, June 6, 2024 at her residence.

Her memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Mathews Funeral Home.  Pastor Glen Robinson and Pastor Don Williams will officiate.

Born in Acworth, GA, Mrs. Cason lived most of her life in Lee County.  She retired from the Lee County School System in the mid-nineties where she was the Assistant Manager at the high school cafeteria and was known as the “Ice Cream Lady” to the students. 

She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She loved the Lord standing on His precious promises. The epitome of a Southern Lady who was our hero and is now living eternally with her precious Savior Jesus Christ. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Wesley Cason, 10 brothers and sisters and a grandson Alex Harp.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlene McClure (Mark), Nancy Harp (Eddie), Barbara Jackson (Reggie), grandchildren, Chris Harp (Charlotte), Calvin Benton (Emily), Lauren McClure, Emily McClure, great grandchildren, Liam Harp, Greg Benton and a special niece, Joann Beck.

The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Mathews Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers please make memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org) or the SOWEGA Council on Aging (sowegacoa.org).
