Bennie Rhodes

Mrs. Bennie Dale Rhodes, 92, of Leesburg, formerly of Dawson, went home to be with Jesus, Tuesday with her daughter and caretakers at her side, July 11, 2023 at the Oaks at Oakland Plantation.

Her graveside will be 10:00 AM, Friday, July 14, 2023 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson.

Born and raised in Dawson, Mrs. Rhodes worked with Stevens Industries and Cargill.  She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Dawson; she played the piano and later in life took up composing poetry.

She was preceded in death her husband Aubrey Rhodes and parents Clyde Hill and Lonnie Mae Dale.

She is survived by her daughter, Melonnie Rhodes Wilson and husband Jimmy, the loves of her life, granddaughter, Megan Wilson Chandler and husband Thomas and her great grandsons, Jackson Rhodes Chandler and James Fletcher Chandler.  She is also survived by her sister, Rose Marie McLendon, nieces, Linda McLendon Jordan and husband Alan, Laurie Askew and Carol McLendon Speir and husband Roy and a special great nephew Adam Speir and wife Kellie and their 4 children.

The family would like to personally thank her caretakers Belinda Horton, Barbara Reese, Salena Metcalf, Michelle White, Melody Smith, Angie Wilson and Tessa Harnage.
