Barry Phillip Frakes, 58, of Worth County, GA passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024 at his residence. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral home. Rev. Dr. Charlie Rouse will officiate.
Born in Ft. Worth, TX but raised in Albany, Ga Barry was a jack of all trades whose craftsmanship could be seen in all his work. From floor covering to construction to sales he spent the last 20 years dedicated to Invision Technology. Of all titles he’s ever held, his highest honor was being called “Big Daddy.” What started as a grandchild name tag quickly became his new name. The love for his family and friends was shown through his ability to make everyone feel uniquely special. He had a smile that could light up any room, and he truly never met a stranger. Barry always loved hunting, fishing, and racing but in 1988, he developed a lifelong passion for racing that would carry on for generations. As a retired race car driver, Barry turned his love for racing into a family sport through the development of Frakes Motorsports - #51. Barry was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include his loving wife Loretta Avery Frakes of 40 years, his children, Bradley Frakes (Kayla) and Ashley Goodwin (Aaron), his mother Karen Frakes, father Ben Frakes, sister-in-law Kathy Frakes, and his grandchildren Brenlynn, Payton, Hannah, Claire, and Katelyn, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Zane Frakes.
