Barney Phillips

Barney Phillips, 79, of Leesburg, GA, died Friday, April 27, 2012 at Tift Health Care. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Leesburg Cemetery, Rev. A.B. Stroud and Mr. Russell Stroud will officiate.

A native of Douglas, GA Mr. Phillips had resided in Leesburg since 1965. He was a retired truck driver with Lee County. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Phillips.

Survivors include three sons, Mitchell Phillips and Ricky Phillips both of Leesburg, GA, Kenneth Phillips and his wife Wanda, Sylvester, GA, a daughter, Karon Taylor and her husband James of Leesburg, GA, a sister Sue Taylor, Tifton, GA, nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers serving will be Donnie Norris, Chad Selman, Jason Faulk, Randal Pollock, Kenny Jones and Dakota Taylor.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 30, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
