Barbara Jo Cannon

Barbara Jo Cannon of Albany, GA., died Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. T.J. Mauldin will officiate.

Barbara was born in Florence, SC., to the late Marvin and Eunice Hines. She was a school bus driver for the Lee County School System for over 20 years. She loved caring for children and took pride in her job. Barbara loved animals and was a fun-loving person. She enjoyed keeping others laughing and smiling with her wonderful sense of humor as often as she could. She absolutely loved dressing up for Halloween, spoiling her kids on Easter and Christmas because holidays were so important to her and she cherished spending time with them. Barbara was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church when her health allowed.

Survivors include her husband Vic Cannon, her daughters, Brenda Carter, Tammy Giddens (Mack), Victoria Barnes and Brooke Walker (Joe), her bonus daughter, Heather Wright (Bobby), nine grandchildren, Talon Giddens, Morgan Giddens, Jordan Cannon, Ember Walker, Colton Carter, Gunner Barnes, Remi Barnes, Sawyer Walker and Brier Walker, her bonus grandchildren, Emree Wright, Elayna Wright and Bradley Wright, three siblings, Marvin, Jr., Kathy and Joey Hines and many nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive visitation from friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
