Anthony "Tony" Murray Fillingame

Anthony "Tony" Murray Fillingame,77 of Dawson, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on September 24, 2023. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Dawson, Georgia. Brad Hughes will officiate.

He was born on December 27, 1945, in Dawson, Georgia to his parents Homer and Sadie Oxford Fillingame. Tony's journey began at Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College (ABAC), where he pursued his education, embracing his passion for agriculture. He had an exceptional career as a farmer, dedicating himself to the land and nurturing it with love and care. Alongside farming, he also worked as an accountant.

After the passing of his son Rodney Fillingame, Tony took over Breaktime Billiards with a sense of responsibility and successfully managed the business.  Tony had a diverse set of hobbies and interests that brought him great joy. Shooting targeting clays was one of his favorite pastimes. But most of all he deeply loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Rodney Fillingame and a brother Danny Fillingame.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Evelyn Fillingame of Dawson, son Joey Griffin (Jennifer), of Blakely, GA, his grandchildren Alexa Griffin and Gunner Griffin, Hannah Pruitt (Christian), and a dear friend Marcus Craft who shared memorable moments with him throughout their friendship.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
