Anthony Waymon Royal

Anthony Waymon “Tony” Royal, 81, of Lee County, GA, passed away July 10, 2026 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. Morris Harp will officiate. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Crisp County, GA.

Tony was born in Huntsville, AL on March 27, 1945 to James and Velma Royal. He moved with his family to Albany, GA in 1959 and graduated from Albany High School in 1965. Tony served his country in Vietnam and was a former store manager for Winn Dixie and retired as a correctional officer with Lee State Prison.

Tony was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and the VFW Post # 2785. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in the yard and garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Royal, his daughter, Kimberly Ann Royal and his dog, Luckey.

Survivors include his daughter, Kelly Royal of Lee County, GA, his granddaughters, Kimmy (Daniel) Turner of Putney, GA and Hannah Denny of Mitchell County, GA a grandson, Hillman Sims of Tulsa, OK and two great-grandchildren, R.J. Dixon and Leila Turner.

The family will receive friends from Tuesday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
