Annie"Sue" Bryan, 94, of Hiawassee, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Greenville, South Carolina on April16th. A visitation will be held Monday, April 20, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
She is survived by her daughter,Melody Bryan,her daughter,Carla Bryan (Dan Renaue),granddaughter Bryanna Enfinger(John),grandson Colden Vinent (Jessica) and great grandsons, Cole and Cooper.
Sue was a long time proprietor of Ideal Beauty Salon as well as the Sportsman Pool Hall in downtown Albany. She is the widow of Pappy Bryan (1985) and Herman Purvis (2019), Known for her red hair and sparkling personality, Sue traveled with Pappy for 35 years of marriage that included his 20 year military service in the United States and abroad. After remarrying,she and Herman toured the US on Gold Wing motorcycles and later in RVs with their best friends Tommy and Kay Herndon. Eventually the four of them settled in Hiawassee. During the flood of 1994, Sue's home on the high banks of the Flint River served as a Red Cross site where she and other volunteers fed over 50 people twice daily for several weeks. The Atlanta Journal Constitution featured her on the front page recognizing her generous spirit.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to J-Lo's Animal Rescue and Sanctuary.
