Ann Kirby Parker

Ann Kirby Parker, 86, of Leesburg, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at The Oaks at Oakland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Parker was born on March 31, 1940, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, to the late Forrest William “Red” Kirby and Helen Parris Kirby. In 1948, she moved with her family to Georgia, where she grew up and later graduated from Lee County High School in 1958. She married the love of her life, Eston Byron Parker, Jr., on February 14, 1959. Together, Ann and Eston built a beautiful life, spending many happy years on Lake Blackshear before Eston’s passing in 1992. Shortly after, Ann moved to Leesburg, where she remained close to the family and friends she loved so dearly.

Ann began her career with AT&T ( formerly BellSouth) in 1960 and retired in 1990 after 30 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, reading books, working puzzles, and rarely missed an Atlanta Braves game. A devoted Braves fan for many years, she celebrated every win and faithfully cheered them on through every season. She never met a stranger, and whether you stopped by to watch the Braves or simply to visit, no one ever left her home hungry…there was always a snack waiting and a warm welcome at the door. More than anything, she cherished the people in her life. Although Ann and Eston never had children of their own, she shared a grandmother’s love with generations of nieces, nephews, and the family she loved as her own.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eston Byron Parker, Jr.; her brother, Michael Kirby; and her sister, Linda Simmons.

She is survived by her sisters, Gayle Dinkins, Kaye Scott (Lamar), Sybil Willoughby, and Sherry Naylor; her brother, Randy Kirby; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She also leaves behind her beloved niece, Tonia Davis (Michael); their children, Mallorie Smith (Cody), Madison Davis, and Mason Davis; and their grandchildren, Milbrey, Memphis, Luna, and Levi, all of whom lovingly knew her as “Granny Ann.”

Ann’s family finds comfort in knowing she has been reunited with Eston and is resting peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
