He was a fourth generation Floridian, born in Winter Haven, Florida to the late Minor S. Jones III and Arlene Summerlin Jones. He grew up on the Creek Farm, east of Fort Meade where he attended school. He served in the United States Marines and began his career in construction in Bartow, Florida where he and his father owned MIV Construction Company. An avid outdoorsman and hunter, Mr. Jones grew up with a deep love and appreciation for cattle, agriculture and natural resources. Above all, he embodied and respected hard work. From the Florida ranch of his childhood to the red hills of South Georgia he called home for most of his life, his love for the land is a lasting legacy by which he will be remembered.
