| Obituary: | The funeral service of James (Ralph) Walters, 76, of Albany, GA, who died June 26, 2008, will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Russell Anglin will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A native of Worth County born to the late Robert A. and Myrtice Walters, Mr. Walters was raised in Doerun, GA and had resided in Albany for the past sixty years. He was employed as a radiographer in the metals inspection department at The Marine Corps Logistic Base for thirty three years.
Mr. Walters was a 1949 graduate Doerun High School and was an Army Veteran of The Korean War. He was a member and deacon at Mercedes Baptist Church and attended The Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Walters was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his second home on the St. John’s River.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Walters of Albany, GA, two daughters, Vickie C. Walters of Augusta, GA and Tammie W. Barker of Worth County, GA, a brother and his wife, James O. and Diane Walters of Doerun, GA, two grandchildren, Jennifer Barker and Richie Barker both of Worth County, GA, a number of nieces and nephews and a caregiver, Tammy Holloway. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William (Billy) Walters and Robert (Buddy) Walters.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday (today) at Mathews Funeral Home.
