 Obituary:

Charles E. (Charlie) Reed, 73, of Albany, GA, died July 13, 2010 at Palmyra Medical Centers.  Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 A.M. at Mathews Funeral Home.  Rev. William Mitchell will officiate.  The Tri County Memorial Club will perform Masonic Rites.  Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery with Military Honors.

A native of Germantown, OH, Mr. Reed had resided in Albany, GA since 1977 coming from Dale City, VA.  He grew up in Dayton, OH and graduated from Kettering High School and attended University of Cincinnati.  Mr. Reed retired as a Gunnery Sergeant from the U.S. Marine Corps after twenty years and was employed as a systems analyst with civil service before his retirement in 1996.

Mr. Reed was a member and past master of Dougherty Lodge # 591 F&AM and a former member of Hasan Shirners.  He was a Demolay advisor and past Rainbow advisor, was a Senior Demolay for fifty years, had received the Order of Demolay Cross of Honor Award, the Chevalier Award and had received the Grand Cross of Color from Rainbow.  Mr. Reed was a member of the 2nd District Youth Council and the General Grand Council of Cryptic Masons.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Reed of Albany, GA, two daughters, Dawn Michelle Reed of Beaufort, SC and Megan Reed Byrnes and her husband, Stuart of Baconton, GA, a sister, Shirley Irene Leeson of Keokuk, Iowa, four grandchildren, Britta Marie Reed, Charles Reed Basko, Robert Shelton Byrnes and Lauren Elizabeth Byrnes and several nieces, nephews and many Rainbow daughters and Demolay sons.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Mathews Funeral Home.
