| Obituary: | The funeral service of Benjamin Spargo, 89, of 404 Flint Road, Leary, GA, who died June 21, 2008 will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Beverly King will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native of Sussex, NJ., born to Benjamin Frank and Frances Spargo, Mr. Spargo moved to Albany in 1940 and had lived in Leary for the past eighteen years. He was a World War II Army Veteran, was employed with Flint River Textiles for forty years and was a member of Cordray’s United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, June Farrow Spargo of Leary, GA, four sons, Ben Spargo, Jr. and his wife, Joy, Jimmy Spargo and his wife, Debra, and Bobby Spargo and his wife, Elizabeth and Frank Spargo all of Albany, GA, a daughter, Linda Smith of Leesburg, GA, four step-sons and their wives, Danny and Marie Farrow of Cobb, GA, Jerry and Patricia Farrow of Ft. Gaines, GA, Ricky and Betty Farrow of Albany, GA and Barry and Karen Farrow of Leesburg, GA, seventeen grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, forty seven great-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine Spargo, a step-son, Timmy Farrow, A grandson, Jack Spargo and a step-granddaughter, Lisa Reynolds.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Monday (today) at Mathews Funeral Home.
