Date of Birth: | May 26, 1918 | | Date of Death: | June 13, 2010 | | Obituary: | The graveside funeral service of Charles J. Woody, 92 of Albany, GA who died Sunday June 13, 2010 will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. at Crown Hill Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Rev. Rodney Hudson will officiate.
A native of Coopers, West Virginia, Mr. Woody attended Bramwell & Bluefield, West Virginia schools. Prior to entering the service, he was employed by Collin & Aikmen Corp as foreman in the material department. He entered in the US Army from August 1939 until October 1943 and was medical discharged with the rank of Master SGT. From November 1943 until August 1945 he served in the Ordinance Department as Chief Inspector of Small Arms & Artillery. After the service he was employed by Fred Jones MFG. Company from August 1945 until June 1956 as District Sales Manager and Machine Shop Engineer. He was elected to ASIA (Automotive Service Industry Association) Hall of Fame and retired in 1988.
Mr. Woody was a fifty year Mason, a member of Dougherty Lodge #591 F&AM where he was an emeritus trustee and he was a member of Monument Lodge # 741 F&AM. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Valley of Albany. He was also a Knights Templar and was a member of Hasan Shrine Center where he served on the Legion of Honor. Survivors include his wife, Imogene W. Woody of Albany, GA, three children, Tommy L. Styles of Albany, GA, Jerry L. Styles, Sr. and his wife, Carolyn of Acworth, GA and Carol A. Styles Hudson and her husband, Steve of Leslie, GA, six grandchildren, Michelle A. Styles Martin and her husband, Jarrett, Michael T. Styles and his wife, Monica, Jerry L. Styles, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, Valerie K. Styles Weiss and her husband, Patrick, Jill Hudson Marshall and her husband, Rusty and Gina Hudson Edwards and her husband, Eric, fourteen great-grandchildren, Ashley Marshall, Ava Styles, Charles A.(Drew) Styles, Charlie Martin, Charly Marshall, Emma Styles, Gracie Styles, Jacob Giltz, Haley Marshall, Hunter Hardin, Jace Martin, Kaitlyn Styles, Shelby Marshall and Parker Styles. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home.
