| Obituary: | The funeral service of Kenneth Lamar Downs, 71, of Leesburg, GA, who died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Palmyra Medical Centers, will be conducted Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chuck Smith, Rev. Bobby Paul and Rev. Donnie Nix will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery. A native of Sylvester, GA, Mr. Downs had resided in Lee Co. for nine years moving there from Dougherty Co., GA. He was retired from Palmyra Nursing Home as their maintenance supervisor and was a member of Kinchafoonee Baptist Church and was attending Family Worship Center. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Downs, two sons, Tony L. Downs (Joyce), Barry L. Downs (Jessie) and a daughter, Tammy L. Anglin all of Leesburg, GA, two sisters, Pearl Perry, Tifton, GA, Betty Haynes, Leesburg, GA, four grandchildren, Eric Strickland, Matt Anglin, Amber Anglin, Brian Downs and three great-grandchildren, David Amburgery, Aiden Amburgery and Ethan Amburgery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
