| Obituary: | The funeral service of Maggie Ruth Greene Powell, 73, of Leesburg, GA who died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at her residence will be conducted Friday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. T.C. Cooley will officiate. Interment will follow in Thundering Springs Cemetery. A native of Eufaula, AL, Mrs. Powell had resided in Albany, GA most of her life before moving to Lee County in 1980. Before her retirement, she was employed with MacGregor Golf Company for thirty four years and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, R.C. Greene. Survivors include her husband, Fred Powell, two daughters, Lynn Cooley and her husband, Lynn and Connie Sims and her husband Joey all of Leesburg, GA, three sisters, Pat Hunsinger, Jackie Jacobs and Sharon Worley all of Leesburg, GA, four grandchildren, T.C. Cooley and his wife, Brie and Blake Sims and his wife, Charlye of Albany, GA, Rebekah Sims of Jacksonville, FL and Kyle Sims of Leesburg, GA, two great-grandchildren, Tristan Cooley and Lliam Cooley. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. The family is at the residence of Connie and Joey Sims, 317 Stocks Dairy Road, Leesburg, GA, 31763.
