| Obituary: | Mary Ann Hopkins, 80, of 1727 Marbury Lane, Albany, GA died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, The funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church with Father Ray Levreault officiating.
A native of Boston, MA, Mrs. Hopkins was born at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital to the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles W. Finnerty. She graduated from St. Clements High School in Somerville, MA and Regis College in Weston, MA and resided in Albany since 1976 moving from Wilmington, NC.
Mrs. Hopkins was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church and was employed with HCA Palmyra Medical Centers as the director of Volunteers from 1976 until 1992. She was employed with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital as the Director of Guest Relations from 1992 until she retired in 1997.
Survivors include five children, Sarah Hopkins Simmons of Baton Rouge, LA, Marty Coates of London, England, Paula Hopkins Bacon and her husband, Bryan of Albany, GA, John Edward and Samone Hopkins, III of Vienna, VA, and Jeffrey and Geri Hopkins of Ashburn, VA. Surviving siblings are Sally Tully of Cape Cod, MA and Charles W. and Jan Finnerty, Jr. of Kemah, TX. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Gregory Paul Allen of Baton Rouge, LA, Katie and Bill Bacon of Albany, GA, Samantha Hopkins of Vienna, VA and Jennifer, Elizabeth, and Joseph Hopkins all of Ashburn, VA.
A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 6:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M.
