| Obituary: | The graveside funeral service of Billy Ray Farmer, 76, of Headland, AL, formerly of Leesburg, GA, who died June 27, 2008, will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at DeSoto City Cemetery with military honors. Brother Troy Fripp will officiate.
Mr. Farmer was born and reared near Headland, AL and was the son of the late Arthur Lee Farmer and Faye Lane Farmer. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Farmer moved to Leesburg, GA in the early 1960’s and lived there until returning to Headland, AL in 1997. He retired in 1996 as a machinist from the Marine Corps Logistics Base and in earlier years, he was engaged in farming. He was preceded in death by his wives, Betty Williams Farmer and Jimmie Cleveland Farmer, a step-daughter, Brenda Lopez and a sister, Martha Waters.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Liles of Cobb, GA, Starla McDonald and her husband, Monte of Leesburg, GA, Donna Curles and her husband, Randy of Tifton, GA, a step-daughter, Phyllis Houston of Leesburg, GA, two sons, Michael Ray Farmer of Leesburg, GA and Jeff Farmer of Cobb, GA, a step-son, Jim Houston and his wife, Trish Houston of Leesburg, GA, two sisters, Betty Johnson and her husband, Joe of Chattanooga, TN, Donna Merrill of Salt Lake City, UT, two brothers, Arthur Lane Farmer of Albany, GA and Lee Hilton Farmer of West Palm Beach, FL, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. (C.S.T.) today (Sunday) at Holman-Headland Mortuary in Headland, AL.
The family is at the residence of Starla and Monte McDonald, 697 Stocks Dairy Road, Leesburg, GA, 31763.
