Mrs. Christine Duggan, 93, of Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus, died April 28, 2010. Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Rick Hamilton will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native of Danville, GA, Mrs. Duggan moved from Cochran, GA to Albany, GA in 1951 where she resided before moving to Americus, GA four years ago. She was a graduate of Middle Georgia College and was employed with the credit department at Sears and Roebuck Company for thirty years. After her retirement she served Rhodes Furniture Company for ten years in the same capacity and retired at the age of 80.
Mrs. Duggan was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Crepe Myrtle Chapter # 163, The First Baptist Church of Albany and taught the Golden Age Sunday School Class for thirty five years. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Leonard Duggan, Sr.
Survivors include her son, G. Leonard Duggan, Jr. and his wife, Bobbie, of Cordele, GA, two daughters, Malissa Duggan Hamilton and her husband, Ray of Homewood, AL and Debra Duggan Ortt and her husband, Greg of Duncan, SC, eight grandchildren, Christine Hamilton of Ft. Collins, CO, Monte Rex Hamilton and his wife, Pamela of Knoxville, TN, Malinda Hill and her husband, Dave of Albany, GA, Lena Waldrop and her husband, Matthew of Auburn, AL, Tiffany Skalla of New Orleans, LA, Trent Senkbeil of Americus, GA, and Madison Christine Ortt and Reagan Marie Ortt both of Duncan, SC and two great-grandchildren, Lily Hamilton of Knoxville, TN and George Truitt Waldrop of Auburn, AL.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence of Leonard and Bobbie Duggan, 221 Wolfs Thick Road, Cordele, GA, 31015.
